The partners had to step on a rushnyk, which was an embroidered purple fabric, before they could take their vows. This was done to represent their heritage and the place they would live in the future. The couple therefore recited their vows as they moved down the aisle up. Their home associates congratulated them and gave them their gifts as soon as they stepped onto the rushnyk.

The brides were given a rounded loaf of white bread with sodium after the service was finished. A small element of the wheat was supposed to be broken off, salted, and then eaten. The remaining bakery had to be crushed on the ground; the more pieces there were, the better because it represented a successful relationship.

The novel ruler and queen’s coronation was another aspect of the festivities. A crown was placed on the bride and groom’s faces during the service to represent their status as king and queen of their own family. They were also given a handkerchief that was intended to be stepped on. The head of the household would be the one to step on it first.
